Doula South Africa founder, Maria Sterrenberg, has been a practicing Doula since 2001. She decided to become a childbirth companion after experiencing the joys of having a Doula at the births of her children at home. She has supported numerous couples in all birth scenarios from water births at home, natural births in active birth units and elective Caesarean sections in hospitals. She has formulated and facilitates 'The Village' Doula training workshop, and along with her husband, holds talks for parents informing them of their choices in active and home birth.
